S.M Hentges is started with a single backhoe and a crane. bidding jobs from the basement of their house.
1985 - Expanded Services
Jeanette Hentges leaves her FT job and helps Steve and the team expand beyond water & sewer projects.
1994 - First Corporate Office
SMH set it's root at a state-of-the-art office, maintenance shop, and equipment yard in Jordan, MN.
1997 - A New Division
In addition to 8 other crews in commercial and residential services, a concrete division was added.
2008 - Beyond Minnesota
SMH expands its services to Iowa, and has completed hundreds of civil constructions projects to date.
2021 - SMH West
The push throughout the midwest continues, with SMH West opening office in Castle Rock, Colorado.
2023 - Howser Concrete Unlimited
SMH acquires Howser Concrete in Iowa, and builds upon it's wide portfolio of concrete services.
